The LimbPower Games & Exercise Multisport event is back!
On the 2nd and 3rd of July for the first time in two years, the LimbPower Games and Exercise event will be taking place at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the birthplace of the Paralympics. We are so excited that the most anticipated event of the year for our community is going ahead! This event is the highlight of the year for many amputees and individuals with limb difference, who are looking to discover and progress in exercise, physical activity and sport.
Over the years the LimbPower Games has helped hundreds of amputees and individuals with limb impairments to gain confidence, improve mobility and find a great new activity. The Games have even been responsible for starting some on the road to the Paralympics!
Scott Meenagh attended the LimbPower Games and is now in Beijing about to take part in the Para-Nordic skiing. 83% of past participants to our events have said that they have gone on to take up a sport.
Among the sports on offer at this year’s Games are athletics (track & field), cycling, archery, rugby, badminton, swimming, shooting, wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball and football. There will also be several workshops, including exercise and dance. As well as some excellent competition events for amputees wanting to take their sport a little more seriously.
Thanks to the generous support of the Douglas Bader Foundation Otto Bock, Dorset Orthopaedics and LimbPower’s fundraising efforts throughout the year, these events are available to participants for a modest registration fee only.
Kiera Roche, LimbPower’s Founder and Chief Executive said:
“LimbPower was founded in 2009 to introduce amputees and individuals with limb impairments to exercise, physical activity and sport. The LimbPower Games and Exercise event is our flagship event with 818 people talking part since the event started. Whether it’s just for fun, or for competition, the LimbPower Games enables everyone to set and meet their own challenges and forge friendships that will last a lifetime.”
